Arterial
Blood Gas
If
your healthcare provider requests arterial blood
gases (ABGs), a blood sample will be taken from
an artery, most often near the wrist. This is somewhat
more painful than an ordinary blood test.
ABGs
measure oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.
They determine how ell your lungs are getting oxygen
into your blood and carbon dioxide out of your blood.
