Fitness and Rehabilitation Program
Intensive Program
The Intensive Program is individualized in order to meet your specific needs. Participants usually come in 2 – 3 days per week for a 90-minute session, consisting of exercises to help improve your strength and respiratory function. The exercise sessions consist of strength training with free weights, endurance training using treadmills and bikes as well as other equipment. You will work with the team to progress towards a new level of health, fitness, and quality of life. Educational sessions are offered twice weekly.
The educational sessions consist of topics such as:
- Energy Efficiency
- Exercise Principles
- Self-Management
- Pursed Lip and Diaphragmatic Breathing
- Home Exercise Program
- Understanding Medications
- Healthy Nutrition
- Oxygen and Respiratory Equipment
- Travel
At the end of the program, the medical director and therapists will review your progress and send a summary to your physician.
