Role of antimicrobial peptides in airway clearance of pathogens. Airway surface contains many antimicrobial components including high concentrations of lysozyme, lactoferrin and other antimicrobial peptides and proteins. We are exploring the interactions of these antimicrobial components with respiratory pathogens, and the abnormalities of airways secretions in various lung diseases.
